BOOK REVIEW – THE VAST FIELDS OF ORDINARY by Nick Burd

ImageFooling in Amazon.com I found this book, the book was described as a “young adult gay novel” written by American author Nick Burd. The cover was nice, the book plot summary was interesting and the reviews were amazing; so I decided to buy it.

For the moment, it has been my very best book acquisition of the year. It is one of those novels written to trap you by all means. For me was just impossible to sit next to my book and not to read it.

The story plot is about the last summer before college of gay, 18 years old Dade Hamilton, who debates between loving Pablo Soto, an American Football High school player, with whom he has a sexual friendship (Pablo is still in the closet and has a girlfriend) and Alex Kinkaid, a drug dealer with no future.

It must be mentioned that this novel won the American Library Association’s Stonewall Book Award Lambda Literary Award finalist for LGBT Children’s/Young Adult literature.Booklist added the novel to its Rainbow List 2010 and The New York Times listed it as one of the most notable books of 2009.
